SoftOrbits Flash Drive Recovery is a simple little application that offers a fast and easy method of recovering files from USB flash drives and memory cards. It supports almost any kind of USB sticks as well as numerous types of memory cards, including SD, SDHC, SDXC, Compact Flash, SONY Memory Stick and a few old formats such as xD and MMC.

Another advantage of this tool is the fact that it comes with a very simple and straightforward interface that anyone can use with ease. It's a bit too simplistic in fact, as there are no file filters or other options that many users would consider basic. On the other hand, it comes with a handy preview for recoverable image files, which helps you find out which photos to recover based on their actual content and not on intelligible filenames.

During my testing I used three USB flash drives, and this application responded differently in each case. On one occasion it didn't detect the connected USB drive at all, though it was a perfectly fine flash drive that the system detected correctly. On another case, it perfectly detected the drive, then scanned it without any problem, and eventually showed up an impressively accurate amount of deleted files that I even completely forgot that they were once on that stick. On the third case, it detected the drive, scanned it, but showed no scan results though I am certain there should have been some deleted image files on that stick that the program should have detected. In other words, in one case the tool worked flawlessly, but in others it failed completely. I can't neither recommend it nor dismiss it as useless, my best advice would be to give it a try for yourself and see how it behaves in your situation.
